- My 13-year-old niece has had swollen wrists and ankles for a year. Apparently, the doctors have not offered a concrete diagnosis (lupus and arthritis are ruled out). Possibilities have emerged, including Lyme disease (results were negative) and growth pain (she is tall and light-framed). A calcium supplement worked very little. What could be going on?
